I Hate Win98
ARGH! Been checking out a couple of PC’s for my mam, they were donated to her club and she wanted me to check them out and make sure they were OK. Both old, both slow and both running Win98, been so long since I used 98 I couldn’t find anything I wanted so almost ended up shouting at them. OK, maybe hate in that instance was too harsh a word but I still don’t like it. :) I think I’ve been spoiled by XP and Mac OS X.
As mentioned sometime way back the wind ravaged our garden and killed our bamboo fence, which I ended up just removing altogether as it wouldn’t stay up after taking such a battering. Well we did a garden tidy up today and without the bamboo fence, or indeed any decent type of fencing, the garden still looks untidy :(
Not mentioned my guitar playing on my blog as it’s not worth mentioning, still isn’t but I’m going to mention it now. It’s been coming along nicely the last few weeks, even though I’ve now had my guitar too long to say, I’ve struggled to learn alone, I’ll take a bit of tab and learn a bit of a song and enjoy it, but when it comes to actually learning what I should I find I struggle to keep going without sneaking onto bits of songs I know and it’s not doing me any good at all. But I found a site that does video tutorial http://www.6-string-videos.com/ and am finding it very easy to follow. The beginner videos are free although you have to purchase videos of actual songs, but as I’m not far enough along I get by with the free stuff. The videos come along quite regularly and you are mailed about the new ones so you get time to practice between one video and the next. After only one or two videos I was playing a tune people recognised and not just an intro that no-one could guess. ;) Hopefully I can keep going and keep enjoying it :)
Signing off tonight with: [To Love You More by Lucia Micarelli] from the album [Music From A Farther Room] [01:36/04:34]Â (worth a listen Thomas ;) )

Windows 98? I remember that thing…
Had no idea you were learning to play the guitar – good luck with it! If you need a hand with anything generally to do with music, you know who to ask… talking of which, your recommendation is duly mentally noted (I’ll have a little look for it on iTunes some time).

thanks Thomas, although I wouldn’t call what I do music yet ;) But definitely check out Lucia, http://www.luciamicarelli.com although the site has been redesigned since I was last there and I find it harder to navigate. And she used to have some of her pieces available to play on the site which I can’t find now.

Hmm, just did a search for her on iTunes and came up with the album you referenced in your post… to be honest, she seems a bit “pop”-ified for my liking, but I noticed the album did contain a very very nice rendition of Meditation from Thaïs. Good to see even you’ll accept a bit of semi-classical stuff every now and then. ;)
